Administrative law encompasses laws and legal principles governing the administration and regulation of city, counrty, state and federal government agencies. Administrative law is the branch of public law which regulates the relationships between government and its citizens. When requesting a building permit, administrative law also applies, namely building and environmental law. In addition, social security law is considered a branch of administrative law (WWB, WAO, WIA, WW etc.).
Administrative law is practiced by an administrative ‘chamber’ which specializes in administrative appeals. It is crucial to lodge an objection or appeal in time and to do so at the correct courts. In view of the diversity of judicial authorities, Courts, Council of State, Courts of Appeal and Business Council, it is wise to request advice and judicial guidance at an early stage. If for example you have to deal with a decision of your municipality or province which you do not agree with, you need to know how to lodge an objection, where and when you can lodge an appeal and if you may call upon a higher court.
